Loki at San Diego Comic-Con 2013

I’m so sad that I missed San Diego Comic-con this year and last! I was studying abroad this summer in Florence and last year I didn’t have much vacation time from work. I have not been exhibiting at Comic-con Artist Alley since summer of 2011. But I miss the chaos and the craziness! I can’t believe I just saw this now, but I am a hardcore Thor fan of the movies and comics! Tom Hiddlesworth plays Loki so well, he brings such a dimensional quality to him. I love Loki’s character complexities, he is the monster that parents tell children about at bedtime stories but he also walks a fine line towards redeeming himself and being of the light. One of my all time favorite characters! I hope you enjoy this video, its so funny!

Dreamwalker Graphic Novel – Reprint 3rd Edition

Hello! Happy holidays! I hope you are enjoying this holiday season with your family and loved ones!

It seems like forever since I’ve posted any updates on Dreamwalker. I am reprinting them this month and opening up sales throughout the end of this week. Last day to order this would be Sunday, December 9th.

To pre-order Dreamwalker Graphic Novel 3rd Edtion, click here. The book is $16 USD and U.S. shipping is $3.00. I will ship internationally; $10 every where else. Make sure to get your order in; after the holidays are over I will be closing off sales again for a while.

In addition to issuing the 3rd edition of Dreamwalker, I’ve been working on some unexpected commissions. I love these projects as they sometimes take me out of my comfort zone, pushing me creatively to places I haven’t brought myself to recently. If you are interested in commissioning a piece by me I’d love to create something personal for someone who has supported me for so long.

I don’t have a ton of studio time over the next few weeks so if you would like something made before the end of the year, please email me immediately hello@dianepascual.com

Thank-you so much for appreciating my work and supporting me the last few years as I am progressing onto other projects!

P.S.
If you ordered last time and would like another copy, I will ship it to you for free.

P.S.S
First 10 people to order through the site will get a free 8×10 mini print of one of my recent works below, your choice of one of the three. Or you can order them anytime on my Society6 Store here.

Meet Me in Seattle March 29th

I have been invited to Seattle for Emerald City Comic-Con on Friday March 29th and Saturday March 30th, I will be in the Artist Alley section, I am not sure where my table is just yet but I will probably know soon!

First things first, I am re-printing a short run of Dreamwalker Graphic Novel for Seattle and I am taking pre-orders until March 12th. This is your only chance to snag another copy if you didn’t get one from Comic-con San Diego 2011. This will be the 2nd Edition print, with many additional extras and pages I didn’t include from my past print run of the original 52 page Dreamwalker Graphic Novel.

This new edition will include extra pages I was conceiving and more characters introduced that I had finished before last year’s con but were not included in the previous version.  I’m also including most of the process sketches and development for the graphic novel as well as character sketches from 2009 to 2011 as I worked on this project. And as an added bonus I am including a short excerpt of the novel version that I am working on to read for your enjoyment! I won’t post this anywhere else! This second edition book will be a trade paperback version with perfect binding and will have around 100 pages, I am printing them through Comixpress. I’ve include some commentary on tons of notes I made while I was creating Dreamwalker and also some of my writing.

This will be the only time that I do this, so please take advantage of this, I may not be re-printing this graphic novel for a while.  If you are going to the Con and you pre-order I will have it for you there for pickup. I’m anticipating they will be ready two weeks before the con. Please let me know by March 12th if you will be pre-ordering a copy, I will be getting proofs before then. For Pre-Orders, Click here. I may be extending the pre-order date but as of right now they need to be in by March 12th.

For those of you who have purchased a copy last year, I’m sending you all a Special Promo Code to use for a Discount for this Second Edition copy of Dreamwalker.

I’m happy and truly grateful that  there are people who appreciate and follow my work, whatever form that may take in the next few years. Thanks again for taking this journey with me as I continue to evolve as an artist and writer.

I hope to see some of you there at Emerald City Con in Seattle this year, I heard the turn out this year is pretty amazing!

Process junkee

Here’s a set of drawings that I did over the weekend. This whole sequence is a part in the story where Chip (the shape-shifting spirit) brings Isis through these magical portals to an ancient civilization called Atlantis. I find it really hard to talk about and describe what the story is about. I’m continually changing my words around and I’m actually going to have someone else write the synopsis for me. I find it really interesting how my creative process works… stepping beside myself to observe myself! Ha. I don’t think I ever make any sense! I think I go through different parts of the story and write and draw different parts by whatever I feel inspired to work on at that moment, its never planned out ahead of time. I do however keep a sketchbook of just thumbnails and plan the pages that way. It’s like a whole day of drawing, break, the next day ink, then scan, then do more thumbnails, then repeat! That has been my past 3 weeks… I was starting to really get burnt out by this story in the last 6 months, I’ve never completely invested in a project such as this and I’m now just having a ton of fun writing the dialogue and inventing things as I go along! Its quite rewarding surprisingly. I usually get bored after I’ve worked on a project for too long. But no Dreamwalker is special, since I’ve written it completely and have put my perspective and my experiences about what I think about the universe and humanity and crafted it into a graphic novel.
As an artist, I’m really more of a visual learner, when I look at a picture I just “get it”. Its harder for me to articulate all my feelings into words, drawing them is probably an easier way of showing others.

Dreamwalker Graphic Novel "The Shadows of the Night"

“The Shadows of the night always seem  to follow…
they surround us with their constant presence.
Some of us sense them, some of us don’t.
The shadows of the night are always around us…”

My graphic novel and personal project that I’ve been working on since like forever! I’ve been working on this bit by bit in the last few months and it’s going to be ready for Comic-con this July! Yay! I’ve had to set it aside the last few weeks since grad school has been really kicking my butt, end of the semester projects… I can’t wait til this semester is over in the next 3 weeks than I’ll really be able to finish the rest of the book! Yay! I haven’t had time to post any pages from the book let alone trying to maintain my blog and website since all I do is draw, draw, draw! More info about the story on my other website.
